Soy Saute Mushroom Recipe
Savory Mushroom Sauce
Ingredients
- ½ lb. fresh mushrooms (shiitake or oyster mushrooms work especially well)
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
- 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the mushrooms and sauté until they just begin to release their moisture.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer for 4–5 minutes.
- Uncover and sprinkle the flour evenly over the mushrooms. Stir well to coat.
- Add the soy sauce and stir until combined.
- Cover and simmer for another 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.

This savory mushroom sauce is delicious served over:
- Grilled or roasted chicken
- Steak
- Pork chops
- Mashed potatoes
- Rice or pasta
Variation: Baked Mushroom Chicken
For an easy one-pan meal:
- Thin the finished mushroom sauce with a splash of red wine and simmer for a few minutes.
- Spoon the sauce over a raw chicken breast in a baking dish.
- Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
