Soy Saute Mushroom Recipe

Savory Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

  • ½ lb. fresh mushrooms (shiitake or oyster mushrooms work especially well)
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the mushrooms and sauté until they just begin to release their moisture.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer for 4–5 minutes.
  4. Uncover and sprinkle the flour evenly over the mushrooms. Stir well to coat.
  5. Add the soy sauce and stir until combined.
  6. Cover and simmer for another 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.

This savory mushroom sauce is delicious served over:

Variation: Baked Mushroom Chicken

For an easy one-pan meal:

  1. Thin the finished mushroom sauce with a splash of red wine and simmer for a few minutes.
  2. Spoon the sauce over a raw chicken breast in a baking dish.
  3. Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
